Croatia Trip (4)

June 29, 2007 | 17:55

Thursday & Friday:

A gecko made friendship with Sandra when it used her as springboard :-) The weather is still unfriendly and a bit to cold to lie in the sun. So we decided to drive hom this morning. All told the 6 days we spent in Croatia where fine, it could have been a bit warmer.

Croatia Trip (3)

June 27, 2007 | 19:37

Tuesday & Wednesday:

The weather lost its warmth. It’s actually not freezing but temperatures round 20°C and rain clouds don’t look like summer to me. Sandra snorted a small fly. And killed it instantly :-) Was good for a laugh too :-) There’s is a slight problem with insects in Croatia, especially when lying in the shade of a tree. I had to kill about 1000 ants, two or three spiders and other liveforms, which I wasn’t able to identify. Sandra shall forth be known as ‘The Snort Killer’ :))

Croatia Trip (2)

June 26, 2007 | 10:06

Monday:

A butterfly had the idea to land on my shoulder and to stay there for a while. Sandra took a photo of this obscure scene :-) By the way, all photos will be published when we are home again. My sunburn has increased a little bit, I do now look like a lobster with a sunburn :-)

Croatia Trip (1)

June 24, 2007 | 21:25

Saturday & Sunday:

Sandra and I arrived on Saturday in the afternoon in Umag at Hotel Sol Garden Istra. The hotel is huge, no really it is HUGE. Food and beverages are excellent, the hotel bar serves excellent Cuba Libres :-) On Saturday evening we decided to go to the center of Umag for some fruits, and to get there we used a tractor-pulled train.

The weather, food and beverages are excellent, the hotel bar serves excellent Cuba Libres. Croatian keyboards do suck, I have never seen that much special characters on a standard HP keyboard and I am still unable to find the apostrophe. Sandra already got tanned and I for myself look like a lobster. I would do good to stay in the shadow tomorrow, or the next few days ;-)

iPhone. You Want Rice With That?

June 21, 2007 | 11:29

I would buy the iPhone if, and only if, the following constraints are met:

  1. I don’t want any contract. Just the phone please

If you don’t want to wait for the iPhone to be on sale, why not fly over to China, and buy one there:

40 Things That Only Happen In Movies

June 19, 2007 | 14:15

(via nostalgiacentral.com)

1. It is always possible to find a parking spot directly outside or opposite the building you are visiting.

2. When paying for a taxi, don’t look at your wallet as you take out a note. Just grab one out at random and hand it over. It will always be the exact fare.

3. Television news bulletins usually contain a story that affects you personally at the precise moment it’s aired.

4. Creepy music (or satanic chanting) coming from a graveyard should always be closely investigated.

5. Any lock can be picked with a credit card or paperclip in seconds. UNLESS it’s the door to a burning building with a child inside.

6. If you decide to start dancing in the street, everyone you bump into will know all the steps.

7. All bombs are fitted with electronic timing devices with large red digital displays so you know exactly when they are going to explode.

8. Should you wish to pass yourself off as a German officer, it will not be necessary to learn to speak German. Simply speaking English with a German accent will do. Similarly, when they are alone, all German soldiers prefer to speak English to each other.

9. Once applied, lipstick will never rub off. Even while scuba diving.

10. The Eiffel Tower can be seen from any window of any building in Paris.

11. Any police officer about to retire from the force will more often than not die on their last day (especially if their family have planned a party). (Caveat: Detectives can only solve a case after they have been suspended from duty).
