Thanks, Apple

March 7, 2008 | 09:08

iPhone SDK was released yesterday, and will feature fully ActiveSync capabilities coming with firmware version 2.0. Wait a second, does that mean the iPhone can now be synced with Exchange over the air, and can now send and receive contacts, appointments and mails via push technology? Yes, it does. Well done, but I’ll receive my new Windows Mobile phone today, so no iPhone for me (for now).

Voice Wreckognition

May 10, 2007 | 11:18

This was a live demo from Microsoft in Redmond some time ago :-)

And this is how programmers use it today :-)

It would be a thousand times faster to use the good old keyboard :-) Want to know what else you can command via voice recognition: http://www.youtube.com/profile?user=scrubadub1

Hasta La Vista

February 3, 2007 | 00:49

windows_vista_aero_3d.jpgAndi and I came across Windows Vista today. Some blokes from Microsoft offered a deeper insight into the ‘OS of all OSs’ at the mall in Wiener Neustadt today. Before I go on I should mention that I’m no ‘OS Nazi” - I’ve worked and am still working with Mac OS, Linux and Windows, so I think I can give you a fairminded review of what I’ve seen today. Comparing those 3 is like comparing apples to pears - literally.

iCallYouLaterMom

Apple now sells mobile phones, not right now at the moment but in the near future: the iPhone. This device features everything, from touchscreen, to iPod, to camera, to wireless lan, to … whatever man, it just features everything a handheld device should offer. One mobile phone to rule call them all.
I’ve heard that prices should be USD 399 for the 4GB model. I wonder if this phone takes over the world like the iPod did. And there still isn’t any competiton - that Microsoft zune ought to be, but I think it was a miscarriage produced by marketers in Redmond. Why would anyone want to buy a piece of crap that is the same price as an iPod nano, weighs more, is larger and has features you never wanted an mp3 player to have? Wonder how Nokia and SonyEricsson will respond to the iPhone…

Which Desktop Has The Biggest Balls

August 30, 2006 | 17:35

XGLWhich Desktop has more eye-candy for its users, which one does more 3D effects, translucency and whirrling thingies. But you have to decide for yourselves, which one is best: XGL/Compiz (Linux), Aqua (Mac) or Aero (Microsoft). I have to admit that I like all 3, but judging from the hardware costs to bring those effects to life, I’d prefer Linux.

Linux XGL/Compiz

Apple Aqua With Spaces

Windows Vista Aero

Microsoft Domain Controllers And Their Value For Mankind

November 23, 2005 | 16:19

If you ever encounter profile related problems in your windows network which is also a domain at the same time, try this:

unplug the network cable

log on to the domain

log off

shutdown

plug in the network cable again

restart

log on

This is what I did today on three client machines after restarting the domain controller, which was up for 7 weeks now :-)

By the way: Wogri seems to win the movie competition, thanks for all your support, and keep on voting until the competition is over! :)

September 13, 2005 | 15:06

Cheers! It’s the 100th Entry!

Maniac just called me attention to an article on futurzone.orf.at. MS tried to recruit Eric S. Raymond. Here you can read the whole email conversation. :D The day will come when guys like Linus Torvalds and the like will work for Microsoft - yeah, and pigs can fly :-D
