1. Alex’s car broke down a few kilometres from home. He called the boyfriend of his sister to pick us up. René and myself were taken back to my place to get my car. We then drove back to the breakdown site, packed the bags in the new car and went on to Bratislava.

2. When we arrived in Bratislava we were told that our flight got delayed from 6:45 pm to 1:25 am the next morning. Sandra looked angry and the departure time got changed to 11:30 pm.

3. We arrived at 0:30 am local time in London-Luton and had to take the bus to the city where shitfaced Indo-Brit annoyed us with his intellctually challenging statements. When he reached for Sandra I told him to “cut it out or I’ll punch you right in the face”. He than started babbling something about “them Europeans”. He also wanted a copy of René’s city map.

4. When we arrived at the hotel, there was some drunk guy resting on the lobby floor. His friend snacked a Mars and took a photo of him. What a nice guy.

5. I got stung the following afternoon by a wasp down at London Eye.

6. We walked through Hyde Park several times thanks to René who always answered with “up ahead and then left” when asked where we had to go.

7. Female police officers who guard Buckingham Palace wear a hat and an MP5.

8. Every second store in London is a Starbucks.

9. We had our worst dinner at a chinese buffet ever thanks to René.

10. After that we ate exclusively at Subways or McDonalds.

11. While waiting for a bus to the hotel on Saturday evening a Lincoln stretch limousine pulled up right in front of us. A bum came out of nowhere pushed René aside while yelling “excuse me, that’s my car!”. He then laughed into an open car window and said “hi there!”. After that he walked to me and asked me for some money because of his situation. I gave him 2 quid and told him not to spend everything at once. He replied with “thanks mate. I’m heading to the filling station for some petrol.”

12. We do now know where World’s End is: in Chelsea and you can get there by bus.

13. We’ve seen more Aston Martins, Ferraris, Porsches, Lamborghinis, Bentleys and TVRs in the last to two days than in the last two years.

14. Starbucks are everywhere.

15. I was not the only one who had the brilliant “lets make a picture that looks like the Beatles cover from “Abbey Road”.

16. There are almost no public benches or rubbish bins in London.

17. You can get everywhere anytime by bus or tube. And you don’t have to be a quantum physicist to understand the schedule.

18. René is the perfect local guide for London.

19. You can’t buy a beer in a pub after 11 pm. That sucks.

Tuscany Report

Day 1

At exactly 4a.m. we started our engines  and set off to Italy. After 11 hours and 900km of murderous Italian drivers and their driving style we arrived in Marina di Castagneto Carducci (Google Maps Link). We emptied our cars, entered the apartment and hit the beach right after. I’d like to quote Andi for his phrase of the century, when watching the locals going home for Siesta:

“What’s going on? We are coming, they are leaving – are they dumb?”

Day 2

On the second day, some Rastafarian guy and his girlfriend came to the beach in the afternoon. Suddenly Margit said “their stuff is burning” – the pseudo-jamaican pair was in the water – probably fucking – at that time. Sandra stood up, walked to up front and told them the real hot news. Ya man, your shit is burning. The mentioned girlfriend came first, the Rastafarian dude had to cool off – hard-on’s aren’t that practical when running around in swimming underwear. His shorts found their way to the trash can afterwards.
When we returned to our car that day I found a parking ticket under on of my windscreen wipers. Thirty-six euros for doing nothing wrong. Even if I would pay for that I wouldn’t be able to do so, no IBAN or BIC/SWIFT, no nothing. Screw you guys I’m driving home.

Day 3

The baywatch dudes at the beach are real hard guys. Especially when it comes to getting a bomb out of the water in the most dangerous way known to men – with a rope and a winch. Shortly after securing what we believe was a hand grenade under one of their man-powered lifeguard boats, the police arrived. Sandra had the guts to talk to one of the Mitch Buchanans directly

S: What’s going on?
MB: We found a bomb.
S: Should we leave?
MB: No, it’s just a “petit bomb”.

Later that day I got really drunk- had to finish a bottle of red wine almost by myself, 14.5% vol. – says it all.

Day 4

On the fourth day Andi, Margit and I built the mandatory sand castle, the Castellanum Romanum Austriae. Everyone at the beach turned their heads for our monumental work. Later that day Andi and I had to kill some arachnoids:

A: Margit would you be so kind as to leave me and Christian alone for a moment.
M: What is so important that you need to tell him that I am not allowed to hear?
A: Okay, dude there are some giant spiders in the bathroom, I think we have to take them out before the girls recognise them.

We sang the A Team tune, and killed three eight-legged chaps.

Day 5

Some crazy Cessna pilot tried to kill himself and his passenger when he tried to fly as close above the water and nearly crashed into the sea. Crazy ass Italian pilots.

Day 6

The wind was a bit stronger on day six of our holidays, Sandra’s umbrella collapsed a few times. Andi and I did some stoneskipping. Mitch Buchanan joined us for one turn, and lost.

Day 7

The wind was much stronger than the day before, Sandra’s umbrella finally died, so I had to borrow her mine. Andi and I got tanned “brown +”. When the time came to leave the beach some digger dug a ditch to connect a river that has its delta on the beach to the sea. The river water was so green that Andi and Margit weren’t able to see that the mentioned ditch was 50cm deep when they tried to cross it, they almost disappeared. Andi did disappear again a bit later when he tried to fit his car, Margit and me (Sandra was waiting inside his car) on a photo. One step back, one more, and he was gone. Another ditch had beaten him,

Day 8

We left at 6a.m. And Sandra and I had to change driver seat almost every 150km, we were both really tired. Back home I booted my MacBook, received only 80 mails, and my newsreader showd up 700 new articles.

Afterwards we continued our trip to Saint Maxime, where Jesus’ girlfriend, Mary Magdalene is buried. It is told that it is her skull that is framed in gold.

• send me an email (there should be public access WiFi in the hotel we’re staying at),
• call Sandra on her mobile phone, and ask for me
• wait until Saturday, May 24th, when I’ll turn my mobile on again

I know that you all will miss me, but as I mentioned above, the French are online – although they have no words for eighty and ninety or concatenated nouns, but still they do manage to surf the web and to build cars – and I’ll post news and pictures of our stay here.

b) take another Apple remote, aim it at your MacBook, Apple TV or whatever and press Menu + Rewind, until you see the icon with the broken chain, this will unpair the lost remote.

To pair that other remote press Menu + Forward, until you see the icon with the intact chain. This information saved me a lot of time and trouble with Sandra, who wasn’t able to watch “The Closer” with the Apple TV

A gecko made friendship with Sandra when it used her as springboard The weather is still unfriendly and a bit to cold to lie in the sun. So we decided to drive hom this morning. All told the 6 days we spent in Croatia where fine, it could have been a bit warmer.

The weather lost its warmth. It’s actually not freezing but temperatures round 20°C and rain clouds don’t look like summer to me. Sandra snorted a small fly. And killed it instantly Was good for a laugh too There’s is a slight problem with insects in Croatia, especially when lying in the shade of a tree. I had to kill about 1000 ants, two or three spiders and other liveforms, which I wasn’t able to identify. Sandra shall forth be known as ‘The Snort Killer’
